People frequently get confused about the grammar of this Fuck. That’s okay, we’re only human. The correct phrase is “For fuck’s sake.” Not, “for fucks sake,” or “for fuck sake.” The expression is for the sake of fuck; on behalf of fuck. Fuck being possessive, you need the apostrophe.
For Fuck’s Sake is a great expression for frustration, and if someone screams it at you during an argument, congratulations, you’ve won the argument by default.
What are the origins of For Fuck’s Sake?
Naturally funny, and a complete sentence on its own, we’ve been using this phrase in one form or another for a long time. It comes from “For pity’s sake,” with usage dating back to the 1500s. Pretty impressive that we’ve continued to update this phrase for 500 years. It’s only natural that time would bring us to a version with Fuck in the starring role. It took a clear path from puritan to modern profanity:
For pity’s sake
For Pete’s sake (Who the fuck is Pete? Saint Peter)
For Heaven’s sake
For God’s sake
For Christ’s sake
For Hell’s sake
For Fuck’s sake

Actor Christian Bale’s infamous fuck fueled rant during filming of the Terminator Salvation movie is an absolute classic! His faux-American accent falling away to British is added humor. Captured as audio only, Bale gives an impression Fuckfest.
He invokes For Fuck’s Sake, a large number of creative Fuck variations, and five other 50 FUCKS given including: The Fuck, What the Fuck, Shut the Fuck Up, Fucking Done, and Give a Fuck (coming Feb 17.)
Sounds like a rough day on set, and he did offer a sincere, no excuses apology for his behavior. Maybe he needed a Snickers. Either way, this is an impressive amount of fucks to give in a single heated moment.
The rant has been given a full video parody, thanks Internet. The green screen terminator in this cracks me up. The audio, after the opening setup, is real, including Bale, the director, the associate producer, and the cinematographer Bale is upset with. Enjoy!
